Ilala Municipal Council Vows to be the cleanest municipal in Tanzania

Friday 29 June, 2012 saw the launch of one of the new entrants in the business industry in the field of waste managements and cleanliness spearheaded by a young dynamic entrepreneur  Anthony Mark, the Launch of this company , Green Wastepro Ltd  which was officially opened by Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Said Mecky Sadick in the presence of  various government officials including Ilala Municipal mayor, Hon. Jerry Silaa and Ilala District Commissioner Raymond Mushi at the Mnazi Mmoja ground.

Green Wastepro ltd which has been awarded the tender for the central business district in Kisutu, Mchafukoge and Kivukoni wards has heavily invested in state of the art technology that includes a fleet of 10 vehicles amongst them tipper trucks, Bajaj trucks, Compacter trucks and sweeper truck, the latter being the only modern and state of art sweeper truck in the whole region of East and Central Africa.

“I am very much delighted this day, as a starting point to be able to fulfill my dream of making Dar es Salaam the cleanest city in Tanzania. If other cities in the world have been able to keep theirs clean, I would like to pioneer to make ours also a possibility” stated Anthony Mark.

The cleanliness of the City of Dar es Salaam in not an individual effort but that of the community at large. “We should just not leave it up to the waste management companies to keep the city clean, but it’s up to each and every citizen to make a conscious effort to keep their respective environment clean and tidy” stated The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Said Mecky Sadick.

Amongst the high profile dignitaries was his worship the Mayor of Ilala municipality Hon. Jerry Silaa who has vowed to make Ilala the cleanest region in the Country. “with various Government and corporate Headquarters based in the Ilala region which also serves as the economic and commercial hub of Dar es Salaam, it’s my responsibility not only to keep this focal area clean but also to make it the cleanest in the country” said his worship the Mayor Jerry Silaa.

Green Wastepro Ltd is committed to serve their respective ward in the Ilala Municipality and is looking forward to spread their wings to other part of Dar es Salaam and beyond. “I believe the sky is the limit and keeping the environment clean and green is our utmost priority” concluded Mr. Mark
