UDOM Set to Establish a Confucius Institute

The University of Dodoma and the Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management (ZIA) of China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding where by the two Institutions have agreed among other things to establish a Confucius Institute at UDOM. UDOM is expected to provide space for the establishment of the Institute while ZIA will provide facilities and lecturers.

The Confucius Institute which will be hosted at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences will promote the teaching of Chinese language culture and ethics. UDOM believes that these and other elements of the envisaged Institute are critically important of the development of Tanzania.

This is going to be the first Confucius Institute to be established in Tanzania. This initiative will not only cement the longtime friendly relationship of Tanzania and the peoples Republic of China but also it will enable Tanzanians to tape Chinese experiences that have advanced China’s economy to be what it is today.

Preparations for the establishment of the Confucius Institute are quite at the advanced stage following finalization of the negotiations between UDOM and ZIA officials held on 8^th December 2011 in Dodoma.
