Uwazi-Twaweza,
collects new and existing data in order to create exciting products
that inform citizens, and that enhance transparency and public
accountability. Uwazi’s aim is to reach millions of citizens in East
Africa, directly using media or phone companies as information channels
or indirectly through citizen representatives (authorities,
parliamentarians, NGOs regulators or development partners).Uwazi’s
vision is to contribute to a world in which informed and responsible
citizens decide in freedom how to best live their lives and how to shape
their societies. It’s mission is to ensure that citizens and their
representatives have access to timely, reliable, relevant and easy to
understand information and analyses that contribute to citizen agency
and action and which enhance public debate and accountability.
What Uwazi is looking for
Uwazi is looking for a motivated individuals with any of the following qualifications:
- ability to work with survey data (STATA/SPSS);
- ability to collect and analyze administrative data (EXCEL);
- ability to work with budget data;
- ability to write well, in English as well as (preferably) in Kiswahili;
- ability to shoot and edit video
Uwazi is equally looking for individuals with an interest to work in any of the following areas:
- health
- water
- education
- budget
- business environment
What they offer
Uwazi
does not offer any remuneration for its internships. It offers an
exciting work environment, modern office space, lunch and a travel
allowance. For interns travelling from out of Dar es Salaam, Uwazi also
offers return fare (economy class if flights are required).
