 President Kikwete (right), UN's Secretary General Ban Ki-moon (center) listening to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg during the press conference.The Bloomberg Philanthropies have been supporting Tanzania since 2006, with investment of over USD 7.5 million towards projects aim to prevent maternal and newborn deaths.

 Ms. Helen Agerup of H&B Agerup Foundation gives her remarks during the press conference which was held today in the Dag Hammarskjöld Library at the United Nations Headquarter in New York, USA.  Bloomberg Philanthropies in collaboration with H&B Agerup Foundation will cost-share the second phase to support Tanzania for a combined commitment of USD 8 million.  The first phase which started since 2006 cost USD 7.5 million where over 9 health centres had been upgraded in Kigoma, Morogoro and Pwani Regions.  The project aims at exploring opportunties to incentivize and promote retention of trained health care workers.   In the photo also is Mr. Martin Nesirky (1st right), Spokesperson for the UN's Secretary-General.
